What is a SmartCard?

  • A Smartcard is a debit card containing prepaid fares
  • The initial purchase will cost $10 to hire the card plus a minimum of $10 worth of prepaid travel
  • The maximum fare amount permitted on the card is $99. The minimum purchase amount is $10
  • The $10 deposit will be refunded if your card is returned undamaged. Any remaining prepaid fares will also be refunded
  • A ticket receipt, showing your Smartcard balance, will be issued with each use
  • Smartcards and top-ups can be purchased from our drivers (cash only) or at Newlands Coach Service depot (cash or eftpos)
  • New Smartcards can be purchased online
  • Our company does not accept Snapper cards

Why use a SmartCard?

  • Save up to 27% on travel
  • More convenient than carrying cash (can be used from inside your wallet)
  • Can be used on any Mana or Newlands service
  • It is important to register your card as a lost card can then be cancelled (hot-listed) to avoid unauthorised use


  • If card is lost, please call 235-8819 or email to have it hot-listed
  • If found, card cannot be used until hot-list has been removed by our office. This usually takes 3-4 working days
  • If Smartcard is not found after 7 days, fares left on card can either be transferred to another card or refunded. Deposit is forfeited
